Paul Czodrowski studied chemistry at the Technical University of Munich. For his diploma thesis in the field of molecular dynamics he stayed with Dale Mierke at the Brown University in Providence, USA. He obtained his PhD in Pharmaceutical Chemistry in 2006 under the supervision of Gerhard Klebe at the University of Marburg. In this time, he had several research stays at the University College Dublin, Ireland as well as the CRNS in Illkirch, France.
From 2006 – 2018, Paul Czodrowski worked in preclinical small molecule research at Boehringer Ingelheim and Merck. At this time, he made several contributions to the open source community in the field of small molecule design (e.g. https://github.com/pzc/herg_chembl_jcim and https://github.com/rdkit/OCEAN). He will make best use of this knowledge within the recently started Drug Discovery Hub Dortmund to identify, pursue and optimize attractive drug candidates.

His research focus is at the interface between artificial intelligence and chemical biology. The Czodrowski lab (www.czodrowskilab.org) is developing wet lab protocols and dry lab computer code to answer fundamental questions in chemical biology.
